Drug Take Back Initiative begins at Camden County Sheriff’s Department
Thursday, October 19, 2023
(Camden, NJ) – As part of the 25th National Take Back Initiative, the Camden County Sheriff’s Department has installed a prescription medication drop box on the first floor of Camden City Hall at 520 Market Street. This initiative aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible way for people to dispose of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
“We encourage everyone to take a look in their medicine cabinets and drop off any medications that are expired or no longer needed,” Sheriff Gilbert “Whip” Wilson said. “Safely disposing of prescription medications is so important as it prevents these medications from potentially being misused or abused. And in the midst of the opioid and overdose epidemic, we need to take every possible measure to keep our residents safe and healthy.”
Items can be dropped off, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, until Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. when the contents of the box will be properly disposed of.
