CNB Travel News: Lane Closeurs Rt. 70 E

Beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday, October 27, until 6 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, October 28, lane closures are scheduled on Route 70 eastbound from Donahue Avenue to just past the Cuthbert Boulevard Overpass. Travel alert Construction is expected to begin in the left lane to restripe the roadway and shift traffic to the left towards the median. Once this work is completed, the left lane will be reopened, and the right and center lanes will be closed to place a barrier in the right lane. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained overnight.

By 6 a.m. Saturday, two lanes on Route 70 eastbound will be shifted to the left towards the median, and the right lane will remain closed for gas main installation. This traffic pattern is expected to remain in place for approximately four months. The Route 70 and Cuthbert Boulevard interchange ramps will remain open during construction.

The work is part of a $151 million state-funded Route 70 corridor safety and improvement project that will upgrade traffic signals at 27 intersections, replace or install four Dynamic Message Signs, improve drainage, sidewalks, and resurface approximately 9 miles of Route 70 between Route 38 in Cherry Hill and Cooper Avenue in Evesham. In addition to milling and paving Route 70, the N. Maple Ave loop ramps and the Route 70/Route 73 interchange ramps will be repaved as well. The project is expected to be completed by winter 2026. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
