LOWER TOWNSHIP NJ (October 31, 2023)(CNBNews)--Starting on November 1, 2023 through November 30, 2023, the Lower Township Police Department, along with many other departments nationwide, will be participating in “No-Shave November.” One of the goals of “No-Shave November” is to raise cancer awareness by embracing our hair (which many cancer patients lose), and letting it grow wild and free. Another goal is to use the money you typically would spend on shaving and grooming, to educate about cancer prevention, save lives and aid those fighting the battle. Our officers and staff will be contributing a minimum of $50.00 per month to participate. This year we support Mark Bohn and family. Last year Mark was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and does not have health insurance. He underwent chemotherapy treatments and was doing well. However, he recently was diagnosed with two new cancer spots on his liver. If you know...

CNBnews graphic file Dear President Magill, We are writing to express our concerns about your failure to condemn the recent antisemitic graffiti uncovered the evening of October 20 next to the University of Pennsylvania’s Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) chapter house. The graffiti in question read “The Jews R Nazis.” The University of Pennsylvania’s swift condemnation of this graffiti is needed to show Jewish students that you are committed to ensuring their safety and well-being, especially at a time when it is being threatened nationwide. While we understand that the University’s Division of Public Safety is still investigating the incident as “a potential hate crime,” the wording used is irrefutably antisemitic and therefore deeply painful for Jewish students and their allies to witness. A recent Hillel International survey reported that since the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel, 56% of Jewish students feel scared on campus, and 1 in 4...

GUEST OPINION New Jersey's crime problem is out of control, police are failing to bring offenders to justice, and our elected leaders are hiding the truth. This is an issue I brought up in March, when most New Jersey police departments failed to participate in the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting program.but it is still a problem. Despite a dozen proposed laws to increase crime penalties, criminals are not being caught in the Garden State. In Newark, 94% of crimes reported to police remain unsolved. In New Brunswick 91 percent. In Jersey City, 92%. In West Orange, it's 89%. In Princeton, it's 87 percent. In Woodbridge and Edison, it's 85 percent, but those numbers have not been updated since May 2021. The entire State Legislature was up for election twice since the last timeUniform Crime Report figures were accurately disclosed on the New Jersey State Police website. Governor Phil Murphy and...

26-Oct-2023 12:05 PM EDT, by Cornell University Ford and the United Auto Workers union have come to a tentative deal that could end the worker strike against the automaker and grant sizeable pay increases to union workers. Kate Bronfenbrenner, director of labor education research and a senior lecturer at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, is an expert on union and employer strategies in organizing and bargaining. Bronfenbrenner says: “The UAW-Ford tentative agreement is a momentous victory for U.S. auto workers, which will have ripple effects on union organizing and bargaining efforts worldwide. “After decades of concessionary agreements and stagnating wages, the settlement brings more than a 25% wage increase, eliminates two tiers, provides significant pension gains, and includes the right to strike over plant closures—all critical issues in the strike. More than that, the victory demonstrates that unions can win when they run aggressive and strategic strikes...

Help your child make the best candy choices this trick-or-treat season. (NAPSI)—With Halloween just around the corner, Delta Dental of Washington is reminding parents and trick-or-treaters that there are ways to enjoy the holiday while also protecting children’s oral health. While the words healthy and candy don’t seem like the most obvious pairing when it comes to dental health, there are ways for trick-or-treaters to enjoy a sugar high and—with moderation—not damage their teeth in the process. And it doesn’t have to involve handing out fruit or boxes of raisins to the ghosts and goblins at your door (though dentists wouldn’t complain if you did). “Childhood cavities can be the result of too many sugary foods like candy,” said Kyle Dosch, DDS, Delta Dental of Washington’s dental director and member dentist. “The bacteria in the mouth feeds on the simple sugars and processed starches in sweet treats, creating an acid...
