GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (SEPTEMBER 28, 2023)--Saint Mary Parish in Gloucester City continued its 175th-anniversary celebration on Sept. 17 with a Mass honoring the living and deceased students, alumni, faculty and staff of Gloucester Catholic Junior Senior High School and the former Saint Mary Grammar School. Deacon Joseph Rafferty, an alumnus and former teacher at both schools who is now principal of Saint Rose of Lima School in Haddon Heights, preached the homily and spoke lovingly of the many dedicated and passionate educators who walked the school halls and guided students in the faith.

The Mass was attended by current and former students and staff, with Father George Seiter, pastor, and Father Peter Gallagher, the high school’s part-time director of Catholic Identity, concelebrating Mass. The Mass was among the many festivities that have been ongoing this year to recognize the 175th anniversary of Saint Mary Church.
