TRENTON, NJ (AUGUST 18, 2023)--The NJDOT announced today that the Direct Connection project in Bellmawr, Camden County announced that pile driving operations have begun. The work will take place from Monday to Friday between 7 AM and 3 PM for a few months.
The NJDOT press release details this information. The work consists of two locations. An upper bench/platform closer to the cemetery property will support the new I-295 southbound roadway and a lower bench/platform for the latest concrete wall. Work will start with the upper bench, which is 301 piles, and is expected to take about six weeks. Once that is complete, work will shift to the lower bench, which is 350 piles. That work will take another eight weeks. The work is necessary to install piles that will support a concrete slab platform to support the aggregate base under the new roadway.
The work is part of the Direct Connection project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42. To sign up for I-295 Direct Connect project updates go to 295DirectConnect.com or text CONNECT to 1-844-844-3681.
