GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (August 18, 2023)—Thursday evening at approximately 7:45 PM, three men riding motorcycles pulled into the PHILLIPS 66 gas station at Broadway and Market Street. The one biker drove through the station and exited onto Broadway. Another man with a woman sitting on the back of his bike got gas, while the third man with blond hair and a blond beard, drove his motorcycle around the gas pump island several times at a high rate of speed. He was wearing a German helmet, his bike appeared to be a Harley-Davidson V-Rod.
At one point, that man drove his bike deliberately into the propane gas lockers several times burning rubber, wheels spinning and dirt and debris flying about in the air forcing the gas station attendant and a pedestrian to scurry for cover. After his friend, with the woman drove off, the blond hair man followed him on Broadway heading north.
The three to five-minute incident reminded this reporter of a scene from a Mad Max movie. "For a second I thought maybe a sequel was being produced in Gcity."
This station was the scene of a similar incident last year. The following is from a CNBNews report.
GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (November 13, 2022)(CNBNews)--An unwelcome group of young men in their 20s and teens driving unlicensed ATVs and dirt bikes visited Gloucester City last weekend, riding up and down Broadway at a high rate of speed. On Sunday, November 6, a group of these individuals got gas at one of the two gas stations on Broadway at Market Street. An individual told us that a police officer was also getting gas from the station on the adjacent corner. "This guy on an ATV does a wheelie and spins towards the cop car, hitting it. The cop did nothing. I asked him why he didn't give the ATV driver a ticket. The cop told me they had been instructed not to ticket these people or arrest them."
