HIt And Run at Castor and Armingo; Pedestrian Dead, Suspect Arrested

PHILADELPHIA PA (August 22, 2023)(CNBNews)--Officer Tanya Little of the Philadelphia Police Public Affairs Office released the following information about a hit-and-run accident at Castor and Armingo Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at approximately 12:05 PM. A 19-year-old man was arrested for his involvement in the death of an unidentified male pedestrian.
Joseph Vannauker, 19, from Levittown, Pennsylvania, was arrested for his involvement in the death of an unidentified male pedestrian. The criminal charges against Joseph Vannauker include Homicide by Vehicle, Murder, and Reckless Driving.
An automobile versus pedestrian accident occurred at Castor & Aramingo on Tuesday, August 22nd at approximately 12:05 am, resulting in a fatality. As unit #1 was racing on Castor Ave with another vehicle, it struck a pedestrian crossing Aramingo Street who was crossing in the roadway. Unit #1 then sped off toward Richmond Ave and continued over the Betsy Ross Bridge to Pennsauken NJ. Pennsauken police detained the driver and passenger of unit #1. The occupants of the vehicle were brought back to Philadelphia for further investigation by CID. Unit #1 was confiscated by the Crash Investigation Division. The pedestrian was pronounced at the scene by Medic 45 at 12:25 am.
The passenger injured his right hand and forearm and was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for treatment. He was met there by his parents and released to them.
