On Sunday August 20, 2023 at approximately 9:04 PM The Gloucester Township Police were conducting a proactive patrol in the area of Millbridge Road. The accused, Samad Searles-Evans, was observed operating a motor vehicle with numerous motor vehicle violations and was then observed entering his residence.
Officers attempted to make contact with Mr. Searles-Evans due to active warrants for contempt of court. Mr. Searles-Evans refused to answer the door for officers and did not want to be arrested. Officers communicated with Mr. Searles-Evans for several hours to have him safely exit the residence.
During this time officers had constant phone contact and tried to keep a visual on him as it appeared he may have been under the influence. After several hours Mr. Searles-Evans exited the residence and was safely placed under arrest. Due to the officers abilities to communicate with the accused there were no injuries and the accused was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Samad Searles-Evans was charged with Obstruction of Justice, Contempt of Court and numerous motor vehicle violations. Samad Searles-Evans was remanded to the Camden County Jail in accordance with NJ Bail Reform.
