William R. "Bill" Underwood, of Gcity, Engineer, Army Vet, GCHS Alum

On July 25, 2023, Bill passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  Born in Camden and raised in Gloucester City, Bill graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 1959 and received his bachelor's degree from Central State College.  He later received his master's degree from Drexel University.  Bill proudly served his country as a US Army Captain stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he started his own company, Underwood Engineering in 1978 which he owned and operated until his retirement.

           Bill is lovingly survived by his wife, Suzanne; his children, Christine Klaus, Chuck Klaus, Brian (Jill) Klaus, Eric (Kyoko) Klaus, Pete (Gwen) Klaus, Matt (Andrea) Klaus and Patrick Underwood; his 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren along with his 2 brothers, Michael and Thomas Underwood.

            Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Friday evening, July 28th from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at the Healey Funeral Home, 9 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ.  There will be a viewing again on Saturday morning, July 29th from 9:30 - 10:45 AM at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 6306 Browning Road, Pennsauken, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.  Interment will be held at a later date.
