Gloucester City Memories: 53 Years Ago Battalion Chief Revelli Made The Ultimate Sacrifice

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (July 28, 2023)(CNBNews)--Battalion Chief Revelli of the Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department made the ultimate sacrifice on July 9, 1970, while responding to a multiple-alarm fire that destroyed the former Dennery Dairies Factory on Orlando Avenue. He, unfortunately, passed away due to a heart attack while returning from the fire. His memory is honored by the Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund.

Revelli was instrumental in establishing the Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department, now defunct, located at Highland Blvd. and Sylvan Avenue. He earned his livelihood as a self-employed distributor of wholesale meat. Years later his son, Dan, opened a luncheonette and deli opposite the Highland Park Apartments on Market Street, adjacent to the present-day Wawa store.
