Atlantic City PD Arrest Two Suspects with K-9 Assistance on Illegal Drug Charges

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (July 15, 2023)(CNBNews)--The Atlantic City Police Department arrested two men following surveillance and assistance from a k-9 unit.
On July 15, 2023, at 12:33 PM, Detectives Christopher Dodson and Alberto Valles were surveilling Trenton and Crossan Avenues regarding complaints of narcotic activity from residents. During the surveillance, the detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop in reference to a narcotics investigation. The driver, Kareem Wiley, had a suspended driver’s license prohibiting him from driving a vehicle in New Jersey. Detectives also arrested Wiley on July 6. Wiley and the passenger, Taquan Montgomery, were removed from the vehicle.
K9 Officer Michael Braxton, and his K9 partner, Ryker, a trained narcotic detection dog, arrived to assist. K9 Ryker gave a positive indication for narcotics inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, detectives recovered 56 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of marijuana, and paraphernalia used in the distribution of narcotics that included a scale, rubber bands, small Ziploc bags, sandwich bags and a razor blade. Both men were arrested.
ARRESTED: Kareem Wiley, 21, of Philadelphia, PA.
CHARGES: Possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone (two counts), possession of CDS paraphernalia, and loitering to distribute CDS.
Wiley was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

CHARGES: Possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone (two counts), possession of CDS paraphernalia, and loitering to distribute CDS.
Montgomery was released on a summons with future court date.
The public is reminded that charges are mere allegations, and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
