CAMDEN, N.J. – Camden County, New Jersey, man today admitted possessing images of child sexual abuse, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. Robert Giles, 71, of Collingswood, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge Renée Marie Bumb in Camden federal court to an indictment charging him with one count of possession of child pornography. According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court: On April 15, 2022, agents with FBI served a search warrant at Giles’s residence and discovered electronic devices that belonged to Giles. A forensic examination of those devices revealed over 45,000 unique files containing videos and images of children being sexually abused. GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (July 28, 2023)(CNBNews)--Battalion Chief Revelli of the Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department made the ultimate sacrifice on July 9, 1970, while responding to a multiple-alarm fire that destroyed the former Dennery Dairies Factory on Orlando Avenue. He, unfortunately, passed away due to a heart attack while returning from the fire. His memory is honored by the Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund. Revelli was instrumental in establishing the Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department, now defunct, located at Highland Blvd. and Sylvan Avenue. NJ Leadership Must Develop Rebates Programs Focused on Low-Income Consumers and Renters Today, the Department of Energy (DOE) released guidance for states to apply for new Home Energy Rebates Program funding. The program, created by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), will distribute a total of $8.8 billion dollars in formula grants for states to deliver home electrification and efficiency rebates to help consumers better afford upgrades that will lower utility bills, improve home comfort and resilience, and reduce indoor and outdoor air pollution. New Jersey is eligible to receive $183 million to distribute to consumers. Each state will develop its own rebates program based on the guidance laid out by DOE, for which there is administrative support available. MAYS LANDING, NJ – On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Rahmir Brown, 22, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery and second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun. Brown admitted to brandishing a handgun and demanding money from a cashier at Joe’s Food Market in Pleasantville on December 4, 2021. Brown’s plea calls for five years in State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act, meaning he must serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. Brown will also be subject to three years of intensive parole supervision upon release. The plea also calls for Brown to serve a concurrent term of five years with a parole ineligibility period of three- and one-half years for unlawfully possessing a handgun during the robbery. CAMDEN CITY, N.J. – A Gloucester County, man admitted to participating in schemes to negotiate fraudulent checks with forged signatures and use credit cards without authorization, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. Misty Sarfo-Adu, 28, of Sewell, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler in Camden federal court to an information charging him with one count of bank fraud conspiracy and one count of access device fraud conspiracy. According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court: Sarfo-Adu conspired with Eugene Koranteng, Emmanuel Yirenkyi, and others to commit bank fraud by obtaining blank checks containing the names and account information of unsuspecting customers of a credit card company. MAYS LANDING, NJ – Detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Financial Crime Unit charged Laurie Montgomery, 53, of Linwood, NJ, with stealing more than $150,000.00 while acting as the treasurer of the Linwood Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and the Linwood Street Hockey Association. Montgomery is charged with two counts of Theft by Failing to Make the Required Disposition of Property Received, crimes of the third and second degree. The investigation began in August 2021, when suspicions emerged from the Linwood PTO that Montgomery was misappropriating funds and failing to maintain an accurate ledger containing the organization's financial records. Platkin today announced a state grand jury has voted to file criminal charges against three defendants stemming from the shooting of a New Jersey State Police detective in Paterson back in March.
