Philadelphia, PA - Evil Genius Beer Co. presents a week-long celebration for the launch of a brand-new brew. Challenge Accepted is a brand new Hazy Imperial IPA that weighs in at an impressive 9% and is even available in the company’s newest packaging format, 19.2oz cans.  The new brew will be available in their new cans during “Challenge Accepted Week” that will run from Saturday, June 24th to Saturday, July 1st at the Evil Genius "Lab" in Fishtown, at 1727 N. Front Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122.  Challenge Accepted Week kicks off on June 24th with a mini-beer festival in the brewery’s beer garden focused on the brewery’s new and vintage sour ales. The week then includes a blood drive with the American Red Cross on Monday, June 26th, a course on Off Flavors in beer with Head Brewer Matt Lally on Tuesday, June 27th, Spelling Bee(r) with Lunch Money Quizzo on Thursday, June 29th, Hop Ones riff on the Youtube show Hot Ones on Friday, June 30th with a hot wing eating event, and a competitive cornhole tournament on Saturday, July 1st. Evil Genius Beer Co, founded in 2011, pride themselves on their “Very Silly Names for Very Serious Beers” and have quickly become recognized for their witty beer names often citing fan-favorite movie quotes, hilarious memes, and timeless song lyrics. This month, Evil Genius is at it again with another clever brew and are leaning into their philosophy of fun with a week long series of unique events.
 
Challenge Accepted is a a new double-dry hopped ale featuring Zamba hops that impart an intense tropical fruit characteristic to the beer with notes of pineapple and mango while Idaho-7 and Motueka hops add a taste of juicy orange and citrus with little to no bitterness getting in the way. This new beer is available at the taproom (Lab) and at bottle shops everywhere Evil Genius is sold. Price can vary depending on location but the general average will be around $11.99 each. 
 
Challenge Accepted Week kicks off on Saturday, June 24th with a mini-beer festival Sour Fest in the brewery’s beer garden focused on the brewery’s new and vintage sour ales. Tickets are just $24 and come with tastings of beers such as “Good Morning To Everyone Except Grandpa Joe”, a saison conditioned on peaches and aged in chardonnay barrels, and “I Said What I Said”, a key lime margarita sour ale. There will be six beers to taste and tickets also come with a pint of your favorite to enjoy. Some of these beers are exclusive to the festival and won’t be available anywhere else.

On Monday, June 26th, the brewery is hosting a blood drive with the American Red Cross from 9am to 2pm. All donors will receive a free beer token for participating. Eligible donors can schedule now on the Red Cross’ website.

A course on Off Flavors in beer will be led by Evil Genius Head Brewer, Matt Lally, on Tuesday the 27th. The course will feature an interactive tasting of five different beers each spiked with an off flavor. Guests will learn how to detect these off flavors, what their root causes are, and how it affects the brewing process. Tickets also come with a regular beer and pretzel bites as a palate cleanser.

On Thursday, June 29th the brewery will be hosting a “Spelling Bee(r)” with Lunch Money Quizzo. This adult spelling bee will reward winners with prizes every round. This event is free to participate in.

The brewery will be hosting “Hop Ones”, a riff on the popular Youtube show “Hot Ones” on Friday, June 30th. This hot wing eating event features progressively hotter and hotter wings. The event features sauces from the official Hot Ones line up as well as sauces from local maker Phishtown Sauce Company. Wings are provided by Interstate Drafthouse and vegetarian wings are available upon request. There will be ten sauces to taste in total including the mild but flavorful  “Sauce Upon The Waves”, an old bay hot sauce by Phishtown Sauce Co, all the way up to the intense “Last Dab XXX” by Hot ones.

The week will culminate with a competitive cornhole tournament on Saturday July 1st. This tournament will feature a double elimination style of play which ensures that every team will be able to play at least two games. The winning team will take home a custom branded Evil Genius mini fridge fully stocked with beer. Second place will take home a $50 gift card. Registration is now open on the company’s website.
