PENNSAUKEN NJ-(JUNE 22, 2023)(CNBNews)--A Health Alert on Xylazine and an accompanying NJ Department of Health flyer are attached. 

Xylazine

Xylazine is a veterinary tranquilizer not approved for human use which is increasingly prevalent in the illicit opioid supply in New Jersey. The Department is issuing this alert following increasing reports of xylazine-involved conditions throughout the state, including severe wounds, xylazine-involved overdose deaths, and heavy sedation following use. 

These documents contain background information regarding xylazine, best practices for wound care and overdose response, and recommendations/resources for providers. Accompanying the Health Alert is a flyer for distribution to people who use drugs.
