"A PIECE OF THE ACTION"

*UPDATED with new information William E. Cleary Sr. | CNBNews Editor TRENTON, NJ (June 19, 2023)(CNBNews)--In 2021, New Jersey legalized the use and sale of marijuana. Since then, according to the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission, 24 dispensaries have sold recreational cannabis in the state, and 13 shops sell only medical marijuana. The use of medical marijuana was approved in 2010. That legalization has also seen a rush by local governments throughout the state bending over backward to attract "Doobie Stores' to open in their communities. For example, the City of Gloucester City passed legislation in January to amend its Land Development law to accommodate the marijuana industry. Now the development of the Southport area, which consists of over 100 acres of vacant land along the Delaware River, will be used to cultivate, manufacture, and distribute marijuana. The new ordinance allows cannabis businesses to operate with Class 1, 2,3,4,5, and... Read more →

HOW VACATIONERS CAN SAFEGUARD THEIR MOBILE FROM ‘SHOULDER SURFING’ HACKERS New York, 6 June 2023 — As summer draws near, millions of Americans will be preparing for a vacation, but sadly so will criminals looking to take advantage of unsuspecting tourists. “While most travellers are trained to look out for pickpockets in popular destinations and not walk around with pockets full of cash, today’s scammers are much more focused on your cell phone than your money belt,” explains Marijus Briedis, cybersecurity expert at NordVPN. “The latest phenomenon we are seeing is ‘shoulder surfing’, where someone tries to steal your personal data by watching over your shoulder as you use a cell phone, laptop, or another device in public. By Jessie Gomez Jun 15, 2023, 6:00am EDT CHALKBEAT CNBNews graphic file New Jersey is among the worst states in the nation at preparing future teachers to teach children how to read using an evidence-based reading approach, according to a report released Tuesday. The National Council on Teacher Quality, known as NCTQ, evaluated nearly 700 teacher preparation programs across the country on how well they prepare aspiring elementary teachers to teach students to read using an approach known as the “science of reading.” That approach relies on five core components: phonemic awareness (which involves working with the individual sounds that make up words), phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The group’s report said that in New Jersey, “no programs adequately teach all five components of reading.” It also said New Jersey is “the worst in the nation for the average number of components of reading its programs adequately address.” The study... NJDEP REMINDS PUBLIC TO (23/P38) TRENTON – The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection reminds the public to be aware of clinging jellyfish, a small jellyfish capable of inflicting an extremely painful sting that is found in some bay and estuarine waters of New Jersey. The DEP continues to monitor populations, recently integrating a new testing technique that improves early detection capabilities through environmental DNA, or eDNA, markers in the water column. “Fortunately, populations of clinging jellyfish and their distribution have been largely stable since the species was first confirmed in New Jersey in 2016,” said Commissioner of Environmental Protection Shawn M. LaTourette. “However, clinging jellyfish pack such a potentially powerful sting that it is important for the public to be vigilant and take precautions when recreating in coastal bays and rivers where they are found.” It is highly unlikely for clinging jellyfish to be found in ocean waters or... HOME COUNTRY: “Wonder what the count is today,” said Herb

“Wonder what the count is today,” said Herb. “Sure is hot.” We sipped simultaneously, as is our wont, and stared at our friend. “What count would that be?” asked Steve. “The btu count, of course,” said Herb. “Those are British thermal units, you know. It’s how heat is measured.” Leave it to Herb. There doesn’t appear to be any coffee-drinking topic that Herb can’t make completely obscure. “I was just getting used to the difference between Fahrenheit and Celsius,” our cowboy, Steve, said. “I always eat my Celsius with peanut butter on it,” said Doc. “Doc made a joke!” came the coffee-counter chorus. That was unusual because Doc was considered by most of us as the chief justice of the supreme court of darn near everything because of all the initials after his name. The 2024 US Election: All We Can Bet On Is A Media Circus
