Jefferson Stratford Hospital 3-West Unit Receives DAISY Team Award

ST DAISY Team Award

Members of the Jefferson Stratford Hospital 3-West patient care team — Norman Kiersznowski, RN (Glassboro); Paige Fiedler, RN (West Deptford); Stephanie Marucci, APN (Williamstown); Jenn Roach, RN (Berlin); Amy Santos, RN, CMSRN (Somerdale); and Nutrition Care Associate Sandra St. Germain (Woodbury) — were recently honored with a DAISY Team Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The team was recognized for their high level of care and compassion shown to a grateful patient admitted to the hospital last summer with a kidney infection. The nurses were supportive and encouraging, and the dietary associate always brought meals with a smile.

DAISY honorees are nominated by patients, visitors, family members, nurses, physicians, and other colleagues. Part of an international program, DAISY awards are presented to nurses who make a profound difference in the lives of patients and patients’ families. The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in late 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique way of thanking nurses. For more information, visit www.DAISYfoundation.org.
