BROOKLAWN, NJ (June 3, 2023)(CNBNews)--The local Gloucester Catholic Rams NJ #7  captured its 29th Sectional Championship at the Joe Barth Field by beating a strong NJ #2 Ranney HS 4 - 1, behind a strong pitching performance by Tanner Nolan who struck out 9 with 3 hits in his 6 innings on the mound.

Ranney came into the Joe Barth Field with a record of 27 - 2, led by senior Duke Bound AJ Garcia. Garcia provided Ranney with their only run when he hit a monster home run in the 5th inning.  Garcia opened the game with a strikeout and ended the game by being struck out by reliver Joe Vaccarella

Gloucester Catholic, the winner of 25 State Titles, took control of a close game in the 4th inning when they put 3 runs on the board. Damon Suriani provided the Rams with 3 of their 10 hits. Tyler Bunting chipped in 2 hits with 2 runs batted in, and Jason Bogart 2 hits with one run batted in.

Base running hampered several Ram's threats with four base runners being picked off or caught stealing.

The Rams  #7 in the State will now face St Mary's Thursday at 4:00 at Veterans Park, Hamilton, NJ, for the State Championship game.
