Laser Beam on House Leads to Arrest, Weapon Recovered

The Atlantic City Police Department arrested a juvenile armed with a handgun after pointing the weapon at a residence.
On May 30, 2023 at 11:31 PM, Officer John Bell was in the 600 block of Kentucky Avenue when he observed a group of individuals and observed a laser beam being pointed at a residence. Officer Bell approached the group to investigate, as it is common for firearms to be equipped with a laser sight.
One juvenile male began to flee after his initial interaction with the group. The juvenile dropped a handgun which was recovered by Officer Bell. In the 400 block of Haddon Avenue, the juvenile was apprehended by Officer Cuong Sam and arrested. The recovered handgun was loaded and had a laser sight.
ARRESTED: A 15-year old male from Pleasantville, NJ.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a high capacity magazine, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest.
The male was remanded to Morris County Juvenile Detention Center. The public is reminded that charges are mere allegations, and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
