Citizens Against Government Waste (Washington, D.C.) – Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) named Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) our June 2023 Porkers of the Month for wanting to spend trillions of dollars more for their latest “Green New Deal” scheme. Congress has already approved hundreds of billions for “Green New Deal” projects, but Sen. Markey and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez want even more. Their reintroduction of the “Green New Deal” is full of outrageously expensive programs. It calls for replacing all fossil fuel and nuclear power with solar energy which would require 18.7 billion solar panels and a land mass equal to the combined size of New York and Vermont. Many toxic chemicals are used to produce solar panels and every year 681,000 birds are killed by wind turbines. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was named Porker of the Year in 2019 for introducing the “Green New Deal” in the...

The statement below is by Commissioner Jonathan Young regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Affirmative Action. The U.S. Supreme Court’s ban on affirmative action in college admissions is a disastrous setback for racial equality in America. I have dedicated my career to fighting for economic opportunity and developing our workforce, both as a commissioner and as an advocate for organized labor. Affirmative action leveled the playing-field for countless students of color in Camden County and beyond—students who otherwise would have been denied the economic opportunities their white classmates enjoyed. Eliminating it is, as Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg wrote, “like throwing away your umbrella in a rainstorm because you are not getting wet.” According to NPR, when California banned affirmative action in admissions for public colleges, affected schools saw a 40% drop in Black and Latino enrollment. Even 20 years after the decision, UCLA still enrolls a disproportionately small...

By Slim Randles “Just about a week now, boys, and Happy Birthday America!” “Got that right, Herb. You finished with that hot sauce?” “Here you go,” said Steve. There’ll be the annual parade, of course, and each bonafide member of the world dilemma think tank, masquerading in public as the supreme court of dang near everything, would be down there on the street to judge. Oh, not officially. No one takes notes. This Fourth of July parade isn’t big enough to pass out trophies or anything. If they did, it’d say on the trophies something like “best brushed horse in the parade” or “the band that showed up.” But it is a solemn occasion for us. This is our chance to look at the kids walking with their dogs and speculating on what might have happened to last year’s dog. Or maybe what combination of back fence romance created this...

Bill Donohue CATHOLIC LEAGUE June 27, 2023 More than 30 congressional Democrats who call themselves Catholic issued a robust defense of abortion-on-demand on June 24 claiming their position is entirely in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church. They know this is not true. “The Statement of Principles,” led by Rep. Rosa DeLauro, was issued in response to the Supreme Court’s decision last year in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade. The statement contains at least four egregious falsehoods. First, the Democrats claim that in the Dobbs decision “the Justices stripped women of their right to abortion and escalated an ongoing reproductive healthcare crisis in this country.” That is a lie. The Supreme Court declared there was no federal right to abortion. It did not outlaw abortion in the United States; it left that decision up to the states. Second, the Democrats are playing...

MONDAY, JUNE 26, 2023 CNBNews graphic file SUPPORT NRA-ILA Just in case anyone needed further evidence that gun control laws are about exercising political control and suppressing constitutional rights, rather than protecting the public from criminals, Joe Biden’s Department of Justice has provided them with unmistakable proof. On June 20, the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Delaware submitted paperwork outlining a plea deal for the president’s son, Hunter Biden. Under the terms of the agreement, Hunter would avoid a conviction for possessing a firearm while being an “unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance” if he completes a pretrial diversion program. The USAO document only made mention of one charge of Hunter violating 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(3), which concerns prohibited persons in possession of a firearm. This crime is punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment. Yet there were at least two other felony charges potentially...
