Catherine Madeline (Thomas) Tilton, 94, of North Wildwood; GCHS Alumnus

Catherine Madeline (Thomas) Tilton November 12, 1928-April 28, 2023 (94) Madeline, known to many as Mad, passed away at 94 on April 28, 2023. She passed away along the Jersey Coast, where she always found refuge, after moving to Wildwood Crest with her “hunky” Screenshot 2023-05-03 at 19.04.17husband, Harold Franklin Tilton and their five children.

 

Having graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School, Madeline wore many hats professionally, but her late-in-life work at Lenox Warehouse took the spotlight. Madeline and Harold moved around many mes during their 63 year marriage, living in multiple places from Circle Bay Yacht Club, FL to North Wildwood, NJ. Over the last decade, she enjoyed her life overlooking the inlet, listening to concerts, watching beachgoers, and most important to her, walking her great-grandchildren around the neighborhood. Madeline was known for her vibrant stories, her endless searches for lost items located right in front of her, and her love for game nights, including Michigan Rummy with her grandchildren with costumes and pretzel rod cigars. Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Harold and son, Harold.

 

Her children survive Madeline Marianne (Bill) Hutchinson, Jacqueline (Jerry) Stauffer, Thomas (Joyce) Tilton, and Edward (Pay) Tilton; her 7 grandchildren Justin (Naomi) Tilton, Regan Tilton, Michael (Rachel) Hutchinson, Kari (Chris) Edwards, Clare (Dave) George, Tarin (Bryan) Summy, Molly (Travis) Adams; and her nine great-grandchildren, Audrey, Ethan, Eloise, Abigail, Anna, Phillip, James, Jack, and Finn.
