Back by popular demand, the university is reviving vintage designs for a new, retro-inspired merchandise collection.
Unveiled this week, Rutgers Retro gear is available for purchase online at retro.rutgers.edu.
The university first explored the idea of reviving long-gone looks after fielding requests from Rutgers fans and alumni to add throwback apparel to its traditional merchandise line.
Compiling the collection came with extensive research. Rutgers trademark licensing team started with designs from 1973 and 1998 to celebrate the respective 50th and 25th class anniversaries. Partnerships with Rutgers Athletics and the Rutgers University Foundation helped to finalize the debut selection to include additional retro designs that truly resonate with fans, current and prospective students, and alumni.
The Rutgers Retro collection features eight new garments, including a classic white Jersey Ringer T-shirt, scarlet ’73 Vintage Football T-shirt, ’98 V-Neck Jersey and a Vintage Fleece Crewneck Sweatshirt in burnout grey fabric.
Fans can expect that the Rutgers Retro collection will evolve and grow over time – and for items to sell out fast!
