GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (APRIL 27, 2023)(CNBNews)—A 18-year-old Gloucester City resident who allegedly carjacked a vehicle on Division Street on April 16 has been apprehended.
Tre’saan C. Braxton was arrested on April 24. Police did not release the suspect’s street address.
He was charged with the following crimes
- Robbery-First Degree
- Receiving Stolen Property-Third Degree
- Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose-Third Degree
- Unlawful Possession of a Weapon-Thrid Degree
- Hindering his own Apprehension-Third Degree
Police did not explain where the vehicle was recovered. It was not clear if the suspect used a weapon to commit the crime. However, a charge of Robbery in the First Degree is typically an armed robbery according to Defense Attorney Jonathan F. Marshall. That crime carries a penalty of 10 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $200,000. Also, the No Early Release Act applies to robbery cases.
Braxton is lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
