ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (February 4, 2023)(CNBNews)--Gloucester City’s Holy City’s Publick House won the Atlantic City Wing Fest at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City on Saturday, February 4. The locals competed against 16 area taverns and restaurants, including chefs from Atlantic City casinos that are known for their tasty wings.
The Golden Nugget Atlantic City and 103.7 WMGM Rocks presented the contest. Paris Produce sponsored it. The venue in the Golden Nugget’s Grand Ballroom was utterly sold out. Approximately 1500 people paid to attend the event. The all-you-can-eat wing festival allowed each person in attendance to taste wings from the contestants. Afterward, they voted on whomever they thought had the tastiest wings. Also judging the contestant's wings were some professionals who voted blindly.
Those in the competition included:
Golden Nugget (Michael Patrick's Brasserie and Bill's Bar & Burger)
Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall
Cuzzie's Pizzeria Kitchen
Essl's Dugout

Richard Dobson, the winning tavern owner, posted the following on the restaurant's Facebook page.
“What a day to remember! We got the honor of being a late entry into the Atlantic City Wing Fest at the Golden Nugget. I have not competed in a food contest since the 2017 Philly Wing Fest. Looking at the lineup, I admit I was intimidated. We faced executive chefs from some of the best places in and around Atlantic City, including many casino restaurants. The whole team at The Holy City Publick House made sure we were prepped for the competition the days leading up to Saturday. It was a challenging competition. We had to cook outside under a tent in 20-degree weather with a breeze coming off the bay. Justin Baker killed it on the fryer, keeping up with the demand of feeding 1500 people, one wing at a time. “
Dolson thanked his wife, his son Juddy, Tom McNulty, Karen Young, and Jason Chiodi, who were in attendance, for their help and support throughout the contest. The tavern is located at the corner of 4th and Jersey Avenue and makes its own wing sauces. Some of them include maple hot, cherry hot, maple bbq, sweet chili, garlic hot, chiodi, and mango habanero, to mention a few.
The tavern also announced on its Facebook page that wing orders for Super Bowl are rolling in. "At this point, we have to black out pick-up times between 3 PM-6 PM. So, any new orders would need to be picked up between 12:30 PM and 3 PM or between 6 PM and 9 PM on Sunday. Get your Super Bowl orders in by 2 pm on Friday for trays and packages! Wing orders will cut off at our discretion, so get your orders in early!
