(Gloucester Township, NJ) – Commissioner Virginia Betteridge, liaison to the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services, advises municipalities that the region will be under a Code Blue Advisory Tuesday evening into the morning of Wednesday, March 1. The Health Officer has issued the Code Blue advisory for Camden County effective from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., beginning Feb. 28 to the morning of March 1. Temperatures during the code blue will drop as low as 29 degrees. Disgraced Grammy-winning artist charged with multiple counts of producing child pornography and enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity CHICAGO — Recording artist Robert Sylvester Kelly, also known as R. Kelly, was sentenced by United States District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber to 20 years in federal prison, 19 of them concurrent with the 30-year sentence previously imposed in the Eastern District of New York Feb. 23. On Sept. 14, after a four-week trial, a federal jury in Chicago convicted Kelly of three counts of producing child pornography and three counts of enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity. The trial revealed that Kelly enticed multiple underage girls to engage in sexual activity and that he continued to abuse his victims for years, at times recording some of the abuse. HSI Nogales investigation lands man 51-month prison sentence for assaulting CBP officer NOGALES, Ariz. — In mid-February, a federal judge sentenced a Sonora, Mexico man to 51 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for assaulting a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Nogales investigated the case. “Working at the ports of entry securing our nation’s borders is important and at times, dangerous, work. Rita Ann Athey (nee Vinciguerra), age 97, of Mount Royal (formerly of Gloucester City and Westville) passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023. Rita was the daughter of the late Rose and Lt. Colonel Armando Vinciguerra, US Army Ret. She was very patriotic, stemming from her military upbringing, and that was evident by her attire and home decorating on Memorial and Independence days. Her husband, Joseph, was a US Navy veteran and prolific trumpet player. She loved big band music including Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and Frank Sinatra. Her love of that music was enhanced by radio and later in life she discovered Alexa. She was a dedicated mother and wife who was devoted to her faith and church, having formerly served on the Altar and Rosary Society and choir of the former St. Anne’s RC Church, Westville, NJ. Unionization efforts sparked nationwide after the pandemic pushed long working hours from routine to unsustainable. As such, the residents at Penn Medicine’s main campus in West Philadelphia decided to add their name to the growing list of those seeking representation. A supermajority of the 1,400-plus resident and fellow physicians employed by the heath system has demanded voluntary recognition of their union with the Committee of Interns and Residents, the largest house staff union in the country. A press release issued by CIR said resident-led organizing began early in the pandemic when they were denied their regular cost of living increase. The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control reminds visitors to Delaware State Parks that 2023 entrance fees will be in effect starting Wednesday, March 1 through Nov. 30. State park entrance fees for vehicles registered in Delaware are $4 at inland parks and $5 at ocean parks. Fees for out-of-state vehicles are $8 at inland parks and $10 at ocean parks. Entrance fees will remain in effect through Nov. 30, which is the normal fee season end date. Daily park entrance fees may be paid via credit-card machine at most park locations, where fee attendants are on duty or via self-registration envelopes provided at park entrances that are then placed in designated secured drop boxes. Annual passes are a convenient way to access Delaware State Parks for the entire fee season. Multiple types of annual passes are available, including resident, non-resident, active-duty military and veterans. Josh Shapiro, who accused Norfolk Southern of prioritizing speed over safety and ignoring emergency response best practices. Jim is fondly remembered as “Bimps” to his grandchildren Mollie Cochran, Emily Cochran (Alejandro Acosta), Wyatt Cochran (Sam), Ross Cochran, Calvin Blackwell, Benjamin Blackwell, Ava Blackwell, Owen West, and Leo West. Jim was a loving brother to sister Florence Rumpf (the late Joseph, Jr.) of Williamstown, NJ. The family wishes to thank his beloved friend, Freda Scully, for her many years of companionship, love, and support of their dad. Then, every year, the FTC rolls up all those millions of reports about fraud, scams, and bad business practices to tell the story: what ARE scammers up to these days? The 2022 headline is this: scammers took a LOT of money. The latest FTC data book says people reported losing $8.8 billion to scams. That’s $2.6 billion more than 2021. Except the number of reports are down by half a million (2022: 2.4 million reports. 2021: 2.9 million reports). Here are some highlights from 2022: Investment scams were huge, with reported losses of $3.8 billion. That’s more than people lost to any other scam, and more than double the loss reported in 2021. Impersonator scams were still the most-reported scam, with reported losses of $2.6 billion. The difference this year? Higher losses to business imposters: 2022 losses were $660 million, compared to $453 million in 2021.
