Today the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife held a public hearing on their Comprehensive Bear Management Policy and Amendments (CBBMP). On November 15, 2022, the Governor enacted a new Comprehensive Black Bear Management Policy (CBBMP) through emergency rulemaking. An approved CBBMP is required for a bear hunt to occur. (Gloucester Township, NJ) – The Camden County Health Department has been notified by the state Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that a sick raccoon removed from the Borough of Lawnside and has tested positive for rabies. On January 18, a passerby witnessed a sick raccoon in the area. The Animal Control Officer for Lawnside picked up the animal and it was submitted for rabies testing at the state Public Health & Environmental Laboratories in Trenton (PHEL).
