Virtua Health Receives Hundreds of Holiday Toys

Joseph Lacroce Foundation Holds Annual Toy Drive for Children

(Voorhees, NJ…December 8, 2022) Children who require hospital care during the holiday season have reason to smile thanks to the Joseph Lacroce Foundation. The Cherry Hill-based not-for-profit organization held its 11th annual toy delivery recently. Organizers and volunteers received and sorted toys for children of all ages and interests at Virtua Voorhees Hospital.

“Our supporters are always excited to participate in the toy run because it recalls the true spirit of the season,” said Sam Lacroce, who established the foundation in 2011 in memory of his son Joseph, who passed away from leukemia in 1975 at age 12.

The hundreds of toys delivered today will be distributed to hospitalized children throughout Virtua Health in the weeks ahead. The five-hospital health system is the largest in South Jersey and has a partnership in pediatric care with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

The Joseph Lacroce Foundation has a long-standing relationship with Virtua Health. In 2016, the foundation helped launch Virtua’s Pediatric Mobile Services program with a $1 million pledge. The fully-equipped program on wheels offers a range of services, including dental and developmental screenings, blood lead level testing, lead poisoning education, flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines, back-to-school physicals, vision and hearing screenings, and referrals to specialized services.
