Rowan Baseball Ranked 12 in the Nation in Preseason NCAA Division III Poll

TUCSON, AZ - The Rowan baseball team is ranked 12th in the nation in Collegiate Baseball's 2023 Preseason NCAA Division III Poll as announced today. The Profs went 33-10 last season, reaching the NCAA Willimantic Super Regional before falling to eventual champion Eastern Connecticut State. Rowan was ranked 11th nationally after last season in both the D3Baseball.com and Collegiate Baseball polls.

2023 Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll 
 
Rowan returns four of its top five hitters from 2022, led by All-Region right fielder Ryan Murphy, who batted .380 with 51 RBI and nine home runs. Shortstop Anthony Schooley, also an All-Region honoree, is back after batting .372 with 39 RBI and a team-high 20 doubles. Rounding out the top four are second baseman Tyler Cannon, an All-NJAC Third Team selection, who hit .354 and scored 34 runs, and designated hitter Patrick Defeciani, who batted .338 with 32 RBI to earn All-Conference Second Team recognition.
 
Senior righthanders Jason O'Neill and Mike Shannon are the top returnees on the mound for Rowan. O'Neill went 8-3 and posted 49 strikeouts in his first season as a starter while Shannon came out of the bullpen, going 5-1 with 24 strikeouts.
 
Rowan opens the year on March 4 with a three-game series at Virginia Wesleyan, before embarking on its Spring Break trip to the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational from March 9-18.​Ro
