Nancy Doman, of Beach Haven and Audubon, Collingwood HS Alumni
Friday, December 30, 2022
(nee Heyn), age 75, of Beach Haven West, formerly of Audubon, NJ. Nancy passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022, surrounded by love. She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth & Elizabeth and her loving husband of 51 years, Robert. She is survived by her devoted daughters Robin (Barry) Fadio of Audubon, Stacey Jones of Gloucester Twp., Jaclyn (Jay) Bozarth of Collingswood and sister Donna (Gary) Wilson. She was the cherished grandmother of Chelsea, Sarina, Peyton, Blaze, Averi, Cassidy, Chase and the late Zachary. Dearest sister-in-law of William & Goldie Doman, Alex & Diana Doman, Barbara & Richard McNulty, Patricia & the late Walter Bonner and the late Joseph Doman. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and friends that were family.
Nancy, the oldest of two girls, grew up in Collingswood and was a 1966 graduate of Collingswood High School. She was a multi-sport athlete who will be a 2023 inductee into their Athletic Hall of Fame. It was at CHS that she met a handsome Woodlynne boy named Bob. In 1969, they married and soon after settled in Audubon to raise their beautiful family. The enduring friendships and special memories they created in their 40 years on Maple Ave are irreplaceable.
Nancy’s two favorite hobbies were bowling and shopping. For years she bowled weekly in at least 2 leagues at Baker Lanes and Westbrook. She was an impressive bowler who had numerous perfect games and loved her bowling crew. Post-game Monday nights you could find them at the Manor while Friday mornings she took full advantage of the nursery at Westbrook!
There was no better shopper than Nan. She personified shop til you drop - or until you’ve spent your last dime and a bill may go unpaid that week! If you were not up and ready to leave when she was on a Saturday (Cowtown) or Sunday (Garden State Park) morning, you got left behind and wouldn’t see her again until the end of the day. She could always find the deals, was a keen negotiator and would hunt down any item someone asked her to look for.
Nancy began her professional career at Campbell Soup in Camden. She took some time off to raise her girls and then picked up some part-time work court transcribing, working for Charles Palermo, working in the Borough of Audubon tax office and then as the deputy borough clerk. The deputy position led to the Municipal Clerk position. She honorably served the Borough of Audubon for 25 years, retiring herself in 2014.
Nance was an extremely strong woman who unapologetically did exactly what she wanted when she wanted and who loved to have fun. She appreciated a good party theme (that she could shop for!) and was responsible for many amazing Griswoldesque group vacations. It came as no surprise then when she became “Bebop” that her grandchildren would enjoy every adventure, every silly moment, every off the wall gift and every Wednesday night dinner surprise.
The lessons, memories and “pee your pants” laughs that she has left us with will be her everlasting legacy. She is her genuine self again, back with her protector and true love, back to having fun.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, 9 AM to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org/donate or Popcorn Park Animal Refuge at www.ahscares.org.
