GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ --The student council at Gloucester Catholic High School exceeded previous records during this year’s annual food drive. Utilizing the theme of the movie “Monsters, Inc.,” students decorated donation boxes to look like monsters and trash cans to look like “scream tanks.” The goal: for each grade to fill its scream tanks by the end of the month.

The reality: students filled their containers by the end of the week. So every week, donations were delivered to make room for more items. Three days before Thanksgiving, the student body had donated about 2,500 canned goods to the Helping Hands Food Pantry, Gloucester’s Saint Mary Parish and Sacred Heart Parish, Camden.

Above, student council members Chelsea Madera and Scarlet Cabrera, seniors who are also part of the Food Drive Committee, stand with some of the “scream tanks” full of food.
