A Somerset, NJ resident reported a burglary to his vehicle and residence that occurred on 10/21/22 during the early morning hours in the area of Fourth St. There were several suspects involved in the act, which may have been an attempt to steal the unlocked vehicle. They were unsuccessful.

10/24/2022

Two Somerset, NJ residents were the victim of criminal mischief in the area of Juliet Ave. shortly after midnight. The unknown suspect(s) slashed the tires on their vehicles causing $2,220.00 in damage.

A business located on Commerce Dr. was the victim of catalytic converter thefts during the overnight hours. The unknown suspect(s) removed the catalytic converters from four trucks parked on the property. The theft totaled approximately $6,000.00.

A Carteret, NJ resident reported criminal mischief to her vehicle while it was parked in the area of Cottontail Ln. on 10/21/22. The unknown suspect(s) slashed one of the victim’s tires causing $30.00 in damage.

A car rental company located on Atrium Dr. reported the theft of all four rims and tires off one of their rental vehicles during the overnight hours. The unknown suspect(s) made away with property valued at $2,000.00

Jonathan Vasquez, 23, of Somerset, NJ was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle crash investigation. The defendant was processed and released with a pending court date. A Somerset, NJ resident reported criminal mischief to items on their property in the area of Talbot St. during the overnight hours. The unknown suspect(s) spray painted an exterior light and a garage keypad causing $80.00 in damage.

A Somerset, NJ resident was the victim of a burglary in the area of Hempstead Dr. during the evening hours. A former female friend may have entered through a window and stole the victim’s computer hard drive valued at $500.00. Damage to the window was estimated to be $200.00.

The lock to a men’s bathroom located at a township baseball field was damaged by an unknown suspect(s) between 10/13/22 and 10/15/22. The damage was estimated to be $1,200.00.

A Somerset, NJ resident reported the theft of unattended property from a local hotel lobby. The victim’s wallet, phone, and cash were taken by an unknown suspect(s). The property was later located outside a business on Campus Dr., but the cell phone and $400.00 cash were still missing. The phone was valued at $1,000.00.

A gas station located on Veronica Ave. was the victim of a gasoline theft. The unknown suspect requested $60.00 worth of gas and left the location without paying.

A gas station located on Easton Ave. was the victim of a gasoline theft. The white male suspect left the station without paying for $24.00 worth of gas.

Suspicious activity was reported in the area of Victoria Dr. during the overnight hours. The reporting person observed a male open a car door and confronted him. The suspect quickly fled the area. Patrol canvassed the area for the suspicious person with negative results.

A Somerset, NJ resident was the victim of criminal mischief during the overnight hours. The unknown suspect(s) threw eggs at the victim’s vehicle while it was parked in the area of Phillips Rd. It was estimated to cost $20.00 to clean the vehicle.

A Somerset, NJ resident was the victim of criminal mischief during the morning hours in the area of Easton Ave. The victim’s parked vehicle had all four tires slashed and the windows broken by an unknown suspect(s). The damage was estimated to be $900.00.

A Somerset, NJ resident reported suspicious activity in the area of Clyde Rd. during the overnight hours. The unknown suspect(s) defecated on the reporting person’s front porch.

A business located on Hamilton St. was the victim of a shoplifting during the afternoon hours. The white male suspect fled the store with approximately $100.00 worth of merchandise.

A stolen motor vehicle out of Howell, NJ was recovered, unoccupied, in the area of Pear Tree Ln. HPD responded to the location and took custody of the vehicle.

A Somerset, NJ resident had their vehicle stolen during the overnight hours from the area of Columbus Dr. The suspect(s) is unknown. The vehicle was valued at $20,000.00.

11/01/2022

A business located on Easton Ave. was the victim of an attempted burglary during the early morning hours. Patrol responded to a burglar alarm and observed damage to the front door. The two suspect(s) never made entry and fled the area prior to police arrival.

A Somerset, NJ resident was the victim of criminal mischief. The unknown suspect(s) slashed his tires and scratched words into his vehicle causing at least $1,000.00 in damage. The vehicle was damaged between 10/30/22 and 11/01/22 while parked on Walnut Ave.

A Somerset, NJ resident reported a burglary to their backyard shed. The unknown suspect(s) made entry and stole a bike valued at $900.00. The act occurred between 10/30/22 and 11/02/22 in the area of Hillcrest Ave.

A business located on Hamilton St. was the victim of an attempted burglary during the overnight hours. Three male suspects threw a brick at the door causing $3,000.00 in damage. It is unknown if they made entry.

A Somerset, NJ resident was the victim of a theft in the area of Village Dr. on 11/01/22 during the afternoon hours. A black male juvenile stole a bike valued at $150.00 from the victim’s front porch.

A Somerset, NJ resident reported their vehicle stolen from Coventry Ln. during the afternoon hours. The keys were left inside the vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered in an outside jurisdiction. The suspect(s) is unknown.

A Somerset, NJ resident was the victim of a package theft on 11/04/22 during the afternoon hours on Lillian St. A white/Hispanic male opened the box and removed $85.00 in contents before fleeing the property.
