Charles Maurice Keenan Jr., of Gloucester City: RR Worker; Loved his Family, Eagles, Notre Dame and Bandstand

Charles Maurice Keenan Jr., passed peacefully on November 19, 2022 at the age of 85. He was born on February 9, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to Charles M. Keenan, Sr. and Mary Screenshot 2022-11-22 at 19.35.25 Keenan (nee Humble). He grew up in Fairmont Park, Philadelphia, PA and later lived in Gloucester City, NJ. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Keenan (nee Friedel); granddaughter Charmaine C. Seiverd; son-in-law, Richard W. Seiverd, Sr.; daughter -in-law Audrey Keenan (nee Laxton); brothers, Jack, Ed, Leo, James, Joe, John, Billy, Charles and Franny; sisters, Helen Gismonde, Mary Griffith and Catherine Wilke and his parents, Charles and Mary Keenan.

Charles is survived by his son, Charles Keenan and his wife, Cynthia; daughters, Janice Seiverd and Stephanie Hevey; grandchildren, Richard W. Seiverd, Jr, Shana & Lee Barnes, Chaz & Rikki Keenan, Meghan & Katelyn Hevey and great-grandchildren, Giavonna, Joshua, Devin, Kyle, Layla, Mariah, Ashton, Braeden and Jaeden.

Charles worked for the railroad, Railway Express and Cornell in Westville New Jersey. Dedicated to his faith and Church of St Mary's Gloucester City. Charles was a kind, gentle and giving man who spent most of his time surrounded with family. He loved being around his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite hobby was sports and his absolute favorite was football. His favorite teams were Notre Dame and the Philadelphia Eagles. Charles was obsessed with Notre Dame and would later journey to the University of Notre Dame with his son and grandson. He fortunate enough to fulfill that dream twice. He spent most of his later years with his sister Catherine Wilke in Gloucester City, New Jersey… whom he adored. Charles loved to dance in his younger years and spent a lot of time sneaking into bandstand. He also loved the holidays, fishing, crabbing, boating, NASCAR and coffee. His smile and laughter will sadly be missed by all who knew him!

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Monday morning, November 28th, from 9:30 to 11 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Interment will follow in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
