On November 22, 2022. (nee Powell) Age 95. Of Gloucester City. Loved and surrounded in her home with her family. Went to be with her dearly departed husband, Verl R. Smith. AnnaMarie is survived by her daughter, Maryann (Bob) Tomlin, her devoted granddaughter Velann Tomlin and her great-grandchildren Luke, Mersadie and Memphis (whom she loved dearly). AnnaMarie considered ALL of Velann’s friends her grandchildren, you know who you are and she loved you all! AnnaMarie is also survived by her daughter Diane of Starr, South Carolina. Predeceased by her son, John of Dorothy, NJ and dear friend Robert Miller of Mantua, NJ. She will be greatly missed by her best buddy, Bowie Johnson and confidant, Roseann Michel.
AnnaMarie was born in Camden and was raised in Haddonfield. She moved back to Camden in 1949 and finally made Gloucester City her permanent home in 1964 until her passing. She worked as a special deputy clerk in the registrar of deeds and mortgages for the Camden County Clerk Office in Camden City for 10 years retiring in 2009. AnnaMarie was a longtime and devoted member Gloucester City Democrat Club and served as Vice-President. AnnaMarie was Secretary and longtime member of the Gloucester City Board of Health, Camden County Democrat Committee, Gloucester City Democrat Executive Board (1st Ward), Gloucester City Celebrations Committee, Camden County Division for Women, New Jersey Federation of Lady Lions. She was one of the founding members of the Heroes to Hero Run and staunch friend and volunteer of Larc School in Bellmawr. Anna Marie was a key communicator for the Gloucester City Public School. She was a devoted parishioner of Saint Mary’s R.C. Church in Gloucester City.
Relatives, friends and members of all the organizations that AnnaMarie was so dedicated in serving are kindly invited to her visitation on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 9:15 am to 10:45 am at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am in church. Interment with her late husband, Verl in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hurffvillle.
