Ronin Austin Nevels, 23, of Lindenwold Arrested on 1st Degree Murder Charges

LINDENWOLD, NJ (October 2, 2022)(CNBNewsnet--A 23-year-old suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a man in Lindenwold on Friday night, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Lindenwold Police Department Chief Michael P. McCarthy Jr.

Ronin Austin Nevels, 23, of Lindenwold, is charged with 1st-degree Murder and 2nd-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose for the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Isaiah Shaw on Friday, September 30.

On September 30, 2022, at approximately 9:52 p.m., Lindenwold Police Department received a 911 call for a person shot at a location on Egg Harbor Road in Lindenwold. Lindenwold Police officers responded and located a male victim who was shot. EMS personnel arrived and the victim, Isaiah Shaw, of Winslow Township was pronounced deceased. Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene.

Through further investigation, CCPO Homicide Unit detectives and Lindenwold Police detectives identified Nevels as a suspect in the shooting. On Saturday, October 1, Nevels barricaded himself in a home in Gloucester Township. The Gloucester Township Police Special Response Team (SWAT) and Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the barricade scene. After utilizing critical incident protocols, Nevels exited the residence, surrendered himself to Gloucester Township Police and he was placed under arrest.

Nevels is currently lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility.
