GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (October 29, 2022) (CNBNewsnet)-- Gloucester High School played West Deptford Friday night at home under the lights. The underdog Lions showed West Deptford that when you come into their "House" you will be in for the fight of your life.
“We were picked to lose by almost everybody in the state of New Jersey,” Lions junior running back Jake Zearfoss said. “We kind of just let them know who we are. That was great.”
Zearfoss carried 36 times for 180 yards and a touchdown Friday night as Gloucester defeated West Deptford, 14-0, in their Central Jersey Group 2 playoff game, according to the Courier Post. They gained 337 yards of offense and 18 first downs. The Lions opened the game with an eight-play, 80-yard march to Zearfoss's score, on a 5-yard run.
He got loose for 45 on the game's third play to set up that score.
West Deptford ran six offensive plays in the first quarter and had just one possession in the second. The Eagles marched from their own 20 to the Gloucester 30 on that possession, but a 47-yard field goal attempt by Brady Clark fell just short.
