New Molecular Virology Laboratory at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital Opens
Monday, October 17, 2022
Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital recently unveiled its new, state-of-the-art Molecular Virology Laboratory. Established through a $4.7 million pandemic preparedness grant from the NJ Department of Health, the new laboratory will provide PCR-based testing for SARS-CoV-2, as well as other common viruses, using an instrument capable of performing more than 3,000 tests in 24 hours. Working in collaboration with the Jefferson Health Genomic Laboratory in Philadelphia, the new lab also has the capability to develop new PCR tests for both known and emerging pathogens, and will help with community preparedness for any future pandemics. Guests at a special open house event Thursday were able to tour the new facility.
