Trenton Train Derailment, Investigation Continuing

TRENTON, NJ (September 28, 2022)SEPTA will operate with a reduced schedule on the Trenton Regional Rail Line through the end of service today, Wednesday, Sept. 28. This is due to continued activity at the site of this morning’s derailment near the Trenton Transportation Center. It is also possible that there will need to be repair work performed in the track area.

Both inbound and outbound Trenton Line trains will operate approximately hourly through tonight. Delays are also possible for the start of service tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 29. We will provide more details about service as new information becomes available. Customers are urged to check septa.org and @SEPTA on Twitter for the latest details.

The derailment occurred at approximately 11 a.m. today. The Trenton Line train had just left Trenton Transportation Center, traveling inbound toward Center City. The train was traveling at a low rate of speed. There were 25 passengers on board. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries to customers or SEPTA employees. An investigation into the cause of the derailment is ongoing.
