PHILADELPHIA (September 29, 2022)(CNBNewsnet) – SEPTA Transit Police this morning arrested a 14-year-old male on aggravated assault and related charges for shooting at a Market-Frankford Line train on Sunday night.

The incident occurred at the Tioga Station at 10:35 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. Following a brief altercation on-board the train, the shooter exited the train, pulled a gun out of his bag, and fired two rounds at the train as it was leaving the station.

One of the two rounds penetrated a train window and was recovered in the vehicle. There were several passengers on board, but fortunately, no one was struck by gunfire or otherwise injured. SEPTA Police immediately launched an investigation, including a thorough review of surveillance video, to identify the suspect, who was arrested shortly after a warrant was approved this morning.

SEPTA Police continue to urge customers to contact them with any concerns. If there is an emergency, customers should immediately call 911. There are also emergency call boxes at all stations and on vehicles.
