Multi-Alarm Fire in the 300 Unit Block of Mercer Street

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (September 12, 2022)(CNBNewsnet)--Task Force 5 was notified by Camden County Communications on Saturday, September 10, at approximately 10$% AM of a dwelling fire in the 300-unit block of Mercer Street.
The Gloucester City Fire Department responded to the call. Upon arrival Battalion 504 reported a three-story multi-family dwelling with heavy smoke coming from the first-floor windows. Battalion 504 was advised that a resident was possibly entrapped in the first-floor apartment. Squad 51 arrived, established a water supply, and deployed a 1.75" attack line.
A fire was located in the front bedroom of the first-floor apartment and quickly extinguished. Ladder 3 (Bellmawr) conducted primary searches, Ladder 1 (Camden City) placed ladders and assisted with primary searches, Engine 10 (Camden City) established a secondary water supply and stretched a backup line, and Squad 16 (Collingswood) stretched a line to the floor above the fire, Ladder 736 (Westville) checked for extension in the exposure, Quint 51 (recall personnel) conducted secondary searches and Squad 7 (Camden City) provided Rapid Intervention Team.
EMS services were provided by BLS 5 (Virtua Health) BLS 4 (MEPRI) and Medic 45 (Virtua MICU).
