Abby Hainsworth has been named the NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week

GENEVA, NJ - Rowan senior Abby Hainsworth has been named the NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week as she helped lead the Profs to two wins last week which ultimately moved them up to the #2-ranking in the first NFHCA Coaches Poll of the regular season (Sept. 13).
It marks the second time in the past two seasons that Hainsworth has earned the national honor. Last year she became just the second goalie in the program's history to receive the distinction, as Morgan Novak was the first in 2018.
Hainsworth, who was named the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week, limited the opponents to just two goals in a pair of road games as the Profs ran their record to 4-0. She started the week by facing nine shots on goal as Rowan defeated Swarthmore, 2-1, in overtime.
In the showdown at then-#2 Johns Hopkins on Sept. 10, Hainsworth took on 20 shots from the Blue Jays and made a career-high 10 saves to lead the Profs to the 2-1 victory.
Hainsworth, a 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-American and All-Region Second Team selection, owns a goals against average of 0.98 and has made 12 saves thus far this year.
Rowan will play its first game since earning the new ranking today, September 14, when it travels to Stevens. The Profs return home from the three-game homestand on Saturday, September 17 to take on Haverford at noon.
