Rowan Soccer Season Begins Thursday

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan men's soccer team will kick off the 2022-23 season when it plays Johns Hopkins on Thursday, September 1 at 1 p.m., while marking the first competition of the new year for Prof athletics.
From there, the Profs will head to San Antonio, TX, where they take on Southwestern on Saturday, September 3 at 6 p.m. local time (7 p.m. EDT) and then face the host team, 13th-ranked Trinity on Sunday at 7 p.m. local time (8 p.m. EDT).
The Profs, who went 13-4-2 last season, reached the NJAC title match. Heading into this season, Rowan received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Association Preseason Poll and was picked third in the NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Leading the way are Wilby Alfred and Chad Yates, who were both NJAC All-Conference Second Team selections last year. Alfred topped the team with 20 points (8 goals, 4 assists) with Yates adding 15 points (5 goals, 5 assists). Luke Yates, who joined them on the All-Conference Second Team, is another key returner and solidifies the midfield along with co-captain Jake Logar.
Rowan will field a talented group of younger players, led by freshman midfielders Davide Caputo and Nick Salazar-Escobar. There will be a lot of new faces on defense with transfers Ari Barreto (Chestnut Hill) and Mason Martelloni(Manhattan) and freshman Ryan Cleary, with Tomas Lazicki (Central Connecticut State) and Chay Kaplan (Rutgers) sharing time in goal.
Rowan opens the home slate, which features seven matches at the Rowan Soccer & Lacrosse Complex, on Wednesday, September 7 when it takes on Haverford at 7:30 p.m.
