Gloucester Township NJ (August 12, 2022(CNBNewsnet) – Detectives have charged a juvenile in reference to the fatal discharge of a firearm that resulted in the death of another teenager in Gloucester Township, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins.
On Monday, August 8, 2022, at approximately 11:53 a.m., officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department were dispatched to a residence on the unit block of Gable Court in Gloucester Township for the report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside his residence. The child was transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 1:07 p.m.
During the investigation, detectives determined a 15-year-old male from Sewell, NJ discharged a firearm while recklessly handling it in the victim’s residence, striking the victim. The juvenile was charged with one count of second-degree Manslaughter on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
The 15-year-old juvenile was taken into custody on Friday, August 12, 2022 by the U.S. Marshalls Task Force and was remanded to the Camden County Youth Detention Facility.
