GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan’s Eli Atiya was named the Region 4 Pitcher of the Year and was joined on the All-Region First Team by right-fielder Ryan Murphy, as the annual teams were named. Both Profs are now eligible for All-America honors, which will be announced on June 1.

Atiya (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) was the ace of the staff for the nationally-ranked Profs this season, recording 69 strikeouts in 79.1 innings pitched while opponents batted just .223 against him. He owned an ERA of 2.38, starting 12 games. Atiya threw one complete game this season, a 16-0 shutout of eventual NJAC champion William Paterson, in which he struck out a career-high 11 batters.

The junior lefthander was named the 2022 NJAC Co-Pitcher of the Year and was an All-Conference First Team selection for the second year in a row.

Murphy (Reading, PA/Wilson) topped the Profs in practically every offensive category as he hit a career-best .380 with 52 runs, 70 hits, 117 total bases and five triples. He tied for the team lead with nine home runs, while also driving in 51 runs and owning a team-best slugging percentage of .636. The rightfielder had nine games with three or more hits and turned in a season-best 5-for-6 effort in a win over Ramapo in which he drove in five runs and scored three.

Murphy, a junior, was also selected to the NJAC All-Conference First Team, marking his second consecutive honor.

Rowan, ranked 10th in the nation, won the NCAA Annville Regional title and ended the season in the NCAA Super Regionals. The Profs went 33-10 on the year for the third 30-plus win season under head coach Mike Dickson and were the NJAC regular-season champions with a 16-2 record.
