Lower Township Police Arrest Two "Firebugs"

Lower Township, NJ (June 29, 2022)(CNBNewsnet) - On Sunday, June 5, 2022, the Lower Township Police Department’s Officers responded to the area of the 1400 block of Bayshore Road, in the Villas section of Lower Township for a 9-1-1 hang-up. Upon arrival, officers observed smoke coming from a parked vehicle. The Villas Volunteer Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Members from the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office as well as the Lower Township Police Department’s Detective Bureau responded to conduct an investigation.
As a result, two males were identified as being involved. Ernest Grey, a 47 year old, Villas resident was subsequently charged with Aggravated Arson, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Arson, and Burglary. He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility in accordance with Criminal Justice Reform. The second identified male, Randy Grey, a 58 year old, Villas resident was also charged with Aggravated Arson and Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Arson and released on a summons pending further adjudication, in accordance with Criminal Justice Reform guidelines.
