San Antonio, TX: Tonight, San Antonio Police Department and PRIDE marshalls on roller skates tried to stop Ikiya Collective from marching in San Antonio's "Pride Bigger Than Texas" parade with a banner that read "They Won't Stop with Abortion, Rise up for Our Rights!"

The group of Black, Indigenous and queer folks of the global majority was stopped three times by the police despite marching with the San Antonio Human Rights Campaign. When stopped by the police from entering the parade route for the third time the group began to chant "let us march!" The crowd quickly joined the chant and they were finally able to march down Main. The crowd cheered and rushed out to take photos with the banner including 35th District Congressional candidate Greg Casar.

Several members of Ikiya Collective played parts in organizing the passing of the San Antonio Non-Discrimination Ordinance and the People's Filibuster against SB5 in solidarity with Wendy Davis when they were a part of GetEQUAL Texas and the Direct Action Network of San Antonio

Below is a statement from the group:

"We felt it was vital to continue the protests from last night because queer people are also impacted by yesterday's Supreme Court decision to roll back Roe V. Wade. Supreme Court Justice Thomas said the landmark high court ruling that established gay rights should be reconsidered now that the federal right to abortion has been revoked. The LGBTQIA2s community must be prepared to fight to retain the rights we have won so far. PRIDE was born out of queer resistance and self-love. We will continue to fight. We will not go back."
