Rowan's Castagnola and Hainsworth Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Teams

GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan field hockey standouts Kristiina Castagnola and Abby Hainsworth have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Women's At-Large Teams and will now be nominees for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team, as selected by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Castagnola is a two-time All-American after being chosen to the NFHCA All-America First Team in 2021, playing a key role in the Profs' run to the NCAA Semifinals. She recorded a career-high 44 points, with a personal-best 18 goals, as well as three game-winning goals.
She was named the NFHCA Region IV Player of the Year and the NJAC Midfielder of the Year, in addition to receiving All-Conference honors for the third time. The graduate student was also named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team and the NFHCA Senior Team in 2021.
Castagnola, who is pursuing her master's degree in higher education administration, was previously honored for her excellence in the classroom when she was chosen the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Performer of the Year and recognized among the NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction.
Hainsworth was the starting goalkeeper for fourth-ranked and conference champion Rowan, and was named to the NFHCA All-Region IV Second Team. She posted a 1.49 goals against average as the team recorded nine shutouts with a streak of six consecutive. Hainsworth also became the second goalie in the program's history to earn the NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week award in October.
She received one of the NCAA's highest honors as she earned the NCAA Elite 90 award, given to the student-athlete at the National Championship who owns the highest GPA.
Hainsworth, a junior mechanical engineering major, was recognized as an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for the second year in a row and was chosen to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
