Rowan Earns At-Large Bid To The 2022 NCAA Baseball Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Eighth-ranked Rowan has earned an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Baseball Championship and will take part in the Annville (PA) Regional, hosted by Lebanon Valley College. The Profs are seeded first in the regional and will face fourth-seeded Mitchell on the morning of Friday, May 20.

Washington & Jefferson is seeded second, with the host Lebanon Valley as the third seed with those teams playing the second game on Friday. The double-elimination regional continues through Sunday, May 22.

The Profs (30-8) will be making the 28th NCAA appearance in school history, and the fifth consecutive under head coach Mike Dickson.  The Profs have been nationally-ranked all season, and as high as fourth in the polls, and owned a nine-game winning streak beginning in late April, while capturing the NJAC regular-season title with a 16-2 record.

Mitchell (30-11) won the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament Championship to earn the league's automatic bid. Washington & Jefferson (35-8) won the PAC title while Lebanon Valley (30-14) captured the Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Championship.

Last season, Rowan won the Marietta Ohio Regional and made its seventh all-time appearance in the Division III World Series/ The Profs have two national titles in their history, in 1978 and 1979.

NJAC Co-Pitcher of the Year Eli Atiya leads the Profs on the mound with a 7-0 record and 1.94 ERA, to go along with 60 strikeouts. Righthander Jason O'Neill has also gone 7-2 this season with 42 strikeouts. Offensively, Rowan is led by 3B Anthony Schooley, who is hitting .389, and Ryan Murphy who scored 46 runs scored and drove in 46, while batting .379.

The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has announced the 60 teams that will compete in the 2022 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Four teams will compete at fourteen regional sites and two teams will compete at two regional sites. The four-team regionals will use a double-elimination format and the two-team regionals will play a best-of-five series. Forty-one conference champions qualified automatically. Winners of the sixteen regional tournaments will qualify for eight, best-of-three series at the super regionals, Friday-Saturday, May 27-28. The eight super regional winners will then qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Friday-Tuesday/Wednesday, June 3-7/8, 2022.
