By Jason Boyce While fast e-commerce growth has helped small entrepreneurs grow their businesses, these brands are seeing diminishing returns in a continually growing market. Mainly because a handful of Big Tech companies, like Amazon and Google, GUEST OPINION are consolidating their power and using it to create hurdles for online sellers. To lend support to the millions of merchants selling on online platforms and ensure a competitive marketplace where they can thrive, Congress and the FTC are beginning to show signs of reining in Big Tech. Enforcing existing law and passing modernized antitrust legislation this year is a must. It doesn't take an expert to see how massive Big Tech has grown in recent years and how tight its grip on the economy has become. While these companies were already budding Goliaths long before the pandemic, a greater reliance on technology boosted them. Amazon, for instance, saw a whopping...

Not many people know that dry eyes syndrome is one of the most common eye conditions that affect people worldwide. Dry eyes happen when your eyes don't produce enough good-quality tears to lubricate them properly. This leads to an uncomfortable feeling that people usually attribute to their allergies. The eyes become irritated, feel gritty and itchy, and there are times when they become light-sensitive and blurry. However, if left unchecked dry eyes can cause long-term problems, and in rare cases, it can even cause blindness. If your optometrist diagnoses that you have dry eyes syndrome, there's no reason to fret as several treatments and procedures are available to alleviate your condition. Most of them are non-invasive, and among the best and most effective that doctors can suggest is the light therapy solution for dry eye syndrome. This solution is a breakthrough in medical technology as it makes the treatment as...

The Coronavirus spread rapidly across the globe, with approximately 59.4 million cases reported in the United States during the initial phase. Staying safe quickly became a top priority for Americans, with promises of vaccine development coming to market. Using mRNA technology, the covid-19 vaccine became available in early 2021. Three vaccine manufacturers were approved for human use, helping mitigate severe risks of the Coronavirus. Unfortunately, as cases surged worldwide, supply issues posed a severe threat to the nation. Shortages of vaccines posed significant delays in getting the population vaccinated. Anyone qualifying for a vaccine could not find available appointments in a timely fashion. Many online websites were swamped with an influx of appointment requests, forcing users to wake up exceptionally early to attempt booking a vaccine slot. Those unable to access the online portals were forced to visit vaccine clinics and wait for a cancelation. Most individuals waited in clinics,...

Being a sports fanatic is a complex matter, in part irrational but not unworthy. It’s a relief from the seriousness of our world. Ya see, winning isn’t everything, but it beats everything that comes in second. Robert J. Stone was a serious sports fan who enjoyed being the boss on the field, the man in black… the umpire. “Blue”. He enjoyed watching his granddaughter play soccer and flag football. Bob was funny, in a sarcastic but fun way. He was incredibly generous and would do anything in his power to help you. He was just, great! Bob is either going to heaven in a wheelbarrow or hell in a shopping cart. One day we will know how lucky we were to have known his love with wonder, not grief. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told a subpanel of the House Appropriations Committee that the Pentagon is awaiting the results of two investigations into the George Washington and figuring out how to lodge sailors in the future after three of the ship’s crew members died in less than one week in April. “Whether or not we made the right choices is left to be said,” Austin said. “Certainly there’s a problem there. We’ve got to understand what the problem is a bit more and then we have to figure out what to do to ensure we don’t have these kinds of problems in the future.” Rep....

DNREC Reminder to Help Their Survival: 'If You Care, Leave Them There’ Look but don’t touch, much less disturb – and even then, just a quick glance and be on your way – that’s the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s message to Delawareans who are likely to see young wildlife in their backyards or almost anywhere in the outdoors this time of year. DNREC wants the public to be aware that the best thing to do when encountering young wildlife of any species is to leave the animals alone, since their mothers are usually nearby monitoring them. Taking or “rescuing” a young wild animal from the wild almost inevitably means that it will not survive. Thus, the reminder from DNREC’s Division of Fish and Wildlife to help young wildlife survive: “If you care, leave them there.” While some young animals may appear to be abandoned, most often they...

POSTED BY: ADMIN MAY 15, 2022 Let me tell you a little bit about the Ghost Tracks on the beach at Cape May Point. When I was a kid, it was a magnesite plant. After it was closed in 1983, the local kids used it as a go kart track before they fenced it off and closed access to the property. So, here’s the story, in the 1920’s The Cape May Sand and Gravel Company that at one time had a sand processing plant at Sunset Beach that used trains to hall sand to the gravel company. Recognition like this affirms our patient-focused practices and collaborative, team-based approach to care,” said Nicole Lamborne, MD, Virtua’s vice president of clinical operations for women’s health. CAMDEN CITY, NJ (CNBNEWSNET) The Stanley Movie theater was one of the most popular places to take your family or your date for an evening of entertainment. Great memories of the plush red seats that reclined, an upstairs balcony for smooching with your girlfriend, and the aroma of popcorn being popped. In the mid-1950s students from St. Mary's Grammar School were bussed from the school in Gloucester City to that theater to see Ben Hur and the 10 Commandments starring Charleton Heston. In the video below Allen F. Haus, the author of the book South Jersey Movie House, talks about the once-great movie theaters of Camden, New Jersey. submitted by Chalie The Clip

Dorothy Philbin | CNBNews GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (May 19, 2022)--I don't try to hide my disappointment in America's public education and never will apologize for wanting today's kids to have the high quality of education we had decades ago. That being said, I also try to be fair and congratulate those who make changes in the right direction. This week I read that "trades" will be CNBNews graphic file reintroduced to Gloucester City schools. A sincere thank you to those who made this happen. I read so many Facebook posts from the boys of the 1960s discussing their woodshop or metal shop adventures and telling what they made. Girls took sewing and cooking classes. Because I took sewing classes I made all my own clothes through high school and college plus bridesmaid's dresses and more. There is so much value to these classes. We learned how to make something. We...
