(Woodbury, NJ)—Gloucester County is looking forward to summer events and programs, and is getting ready to ring in the season with a new event.

Director Frank J. DiMarco and Commissioner Jim Jefferson announced Monday, April 11 that Gloucester County will hold the first ever Gloucester County Summer Kick Off. The Gloucester County Summer Kick Off will take place Saturday, June 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at James G. Atkinson Park in Sewell, NJ.

“What better way to welcome summer than with outdoor activities that the entire family can enjoy,” said Director Frank J. DiMarco.

Director DiMarco says the event will feature vendors from across New Jersey, live music, kid’s activities like face painting and magicians, local food vendors and for the first time, local beer crafters. In partnership with Visit South Jersey, local beer crafters will serve tastings of their favorite brews.

“Our parks shine in the summer season,” said Commissioner Jim Jefferson. “They’re filled with residents of all ages taking advantage of not only the nice weather, but the programs and events we hold each year. We wanted to bring even more attention to our parks and the upcoming summer events schedule with a kick-off event for the whole county.”

Commissioner Jim Jefferson serves as liaison to the Department of Parks and Recreation. Commissioner Jefferson added that Gloucester County is still accepting vendor applications to join the Gloucester County Summer Kick-Off.  

Interested vendors must apply online and will be approved by the Gloucester County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Parking will be available off-site at Gloucester County Division of Social Services located at 400 Holly Dell Dr., Sewell, NJ 08080, the SONY Music Inc. Building located at 400 N Woodbury Rd. Pitman, NJ 08071 and the Gloucester County Department of Health at 240 E. Holly Ave., Sewell NJ 08080. Shuttles will be available for transporting. Handicap parking will be available onsite.
