GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (May 31, 2022)--The DEP is increasing the Local Government Clean Communities Grants by $700,000 over prior years. But, as these current photos show taken in Gloucester City, all the money in the world will not do a thing if the residents and local government don't do their part in keeping the city free of the trash. People are still using the field across from the Cold Springs School, Gloucester City to dump their trash. Likewise, Water Street, (below) also in Gloucester City, has become a favorite site for people to dump concrete and other building materials. At the foot of Water Street, Gloucester City, NJ This photo was taken two weeks ago on Broadway, near Market Street on a Sunday morning. The trash bag was ripped open by animals. Trash and old appliances were piled on the front porch of an apartment on South Broadway. According to nearby neighbors, the trash had been sitting there for several days. Two weeks ago on a Sunday morning, recyclables that the city's trash contractor did not pick up were left laying out for the entire weekend. As a result, much of the trash was left to blow throughout the neighborhood....

By Gloucester City Councilman-at-large Derek Timm Fact-Checking: The Water in Gloucester City GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ--Gloucester City has one of the newest water processing and treatment plants in South Jersey. With a state-of-the-art filtration system in place and on-site laboratory testing done regularly, the water produced here shows no trace of readily readable toxins or chemicals leaving the facility after the treatment. Many factors including the age of supply lines, pipes, and conditions in your home or business regarding the purity level coming out of your faucet can vary, but rest assured drinking tap water is possibly safer than sticking your tongue out during a rainstorm. Rainwater can carry bacteria, parasites, viruses, and chemicals that could make you sick, and it has been linked to disease outbreaks. As much as 40% of bottled water sold in stores actually comes directly from municipal tap water. And while tap water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency, bottled water isn’t, and is subject to less strict testing. The manufacturing, distribution, and disposal of bottled water is also harmful to the environment and bottled water contributes to litter in our neighborhoods. Charles Fishman states that bottled water from the Food and Drug Administration standard...

We are all somewhat familiar with the advantages of a virtual assistant, and you may even have thought of hiring one for yourself. We know, for instance, that we can assign repetitive duties to them or assign administrative tasks that they will often do better, anyway, such as answering calls and responding to emails or entering data. We are also aware that they can take care of other things, such as errands and what-not. But a virtual assistant is more than that; they can reduce your expenses, and they can even have better skills than yours or your staff, such as digital marketing or IT. In addition, there are many other things a virtual assistant can bring to the table. So what are these? Here are the little-known benefits a virtual assistant can bring: what you should know. The decreased cost of labor When you hire an assistant, you must consider all the costs and expenses. Mind you, you don't have to think of their salary – you have to think of their taxes, holiday leave, sick days, compensation, and medical plus dental benefits. But if you get a virtual assistant, especially one from a reputable agency, they work independently,...

Bitcoin mining is a process of verifying and adding new transaction records to the Bitcoin public ledger. The public ledger is called the blockchain. Miners are rewarded with newly created bitcoins, as well as fees paid by users for faster transaction processing. Visit https://bitcodeprime.site/ for further information. Bitcoin mining has come under fire recently due to its high energy consumption and resulting carbon footprint. A single bitcoin transaction can require the same amount of electricity as an average American home uses in a day. As more people begin to use bitcoin, the demand for energy increases. The majority of the world's bitcoin mining takes place in China, where electricity is cheap and abundant. However, Colorado is home to one of the largest bitcoin mines in North America. The mine is located in a former coal-fired power plant. The bitcoin mine in Colorado is estimated to consume around 2.5 megawatts of electricity, which is enough to power about 2,000 homes. The carbon footprint of the mine is estimated to be around 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. This is equivalent to the annual emissions of 875 cars. The impacts of bitcoin mining on Colorado's environment are still relatively small....

If you're looking for freelance work, this article will go over the distinctions between employees and independent contractors, the basic responsibilities of an independent contractor, and where to find them. This article, https://workee.net/blog/A-guide-on-independent-contractor-jobs, gives you a better idea of getting independent contractor jobs. But in the meantime, here are a few differences between independent contractors to on-site employees. Differences between independent contractors to on-site employees Employers prefer independent contractors to on-site employees because this option is less expensive than hiring new employees. Paying independent contractors is way less than paying in-house workers. Also, employees are entitled to employee benefits, whereas independent contractors are paid only for the work they complete. Another reason some employers prefer to hire some or all of their employees as independent contractors are because companies need to invest in their in-house workers to keep them engaged. On the other hand, independent contractors have to work to meet the needs of the contract as far as money has been paid. Primary responsibilities of an independent contractor The following are the primary responsibilities of an independent contractor: Independent contractors, in general, work independently and do not report to an employer. They are in charge of completing work as...

STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania – (May 24, 2022) – According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are around 2 million single father's in the country. Due to the way that the family court, county and social service systems operate fathers are often not allowed to spend as much time with their children as they would like following a separation or divorce. This includes Father’s Day. "Father’s Day can be brutally painful for noncustodial fathers”, said Dads’ Resource Center Executive Director Jeffrey Steiner. “Many do not even get the opportunity to be with their children for Father’s Day. For those that do, it can be bittersweet as they are able to cherish some time with their sons and daughters, while also being reminded of all that they are missing out on and how unnecessary and hurtful the custody battle is to them and their children.” It is not unusual for a noncustodial father to be unable to spend time with his children on Father’s Day. It can take a very long time to even have the opportunity to revise a standing custody order, and there can be provisions that counter act one another. An order that sets aside Father’s Day for the...

It's essential to write down what you need your event to accomplish and then take it from there with an event planner in mind. It also pays to ask them a few questions to see if they fit the bill. So what are these questions, and how will you know you've got the right one? Here's a list of critical questions you should ask when looking for a party planner. What is their expertise, and what kind of events do they specialise in? First of all, to find out if your event planner is the right fit for the event you are planning, ask them what kind of...

Colleen Tressler May 25, 2022 Threats from hurricanes don’t come just from wind and rain, storm surges, flooding and rip currents, or tornadoes and landslides. Hurricane-related threats also come in the form of scammers who use those weather emergencies to cheat people. Some of the most common weather-related frauds and scams include people who promise to help you with clean-up or repairs, but disappear with your money; those who pretend to be FEMA or other government agencies; people who promise you a job – if only you pay to get it; and those who promise you a place to rent – if only you wire them the money to get the place sight unseen. The FTC’s site, Dealing with Weather Emergencies, has practical ideas to help you get ready for, deal with, and recover from a weather emergency. It also has advice on how to recognize, avoid, and report frauds and scams. It’s been one of those weeks. 14 days ago, a racist gunman went into a Buffalo supermarket and murdered 10 Black Americans. Now we have the massacre in Uvalde, TX—19 children and two teachers were slaughtered in an elementary school. This shouldn't keep happening. 91% of Democrats and 74% of Republicans want Congress to act on gun safety, but legislation I helped pass in the House is collecting dust in the U.S. Senate as I type this. As our nation mourns, I want to be upfront with you about where I stand on gun safety. Here’s where I am: I cosponsored the Assault Weapons Ban (HR 1808) to regulate assault weapons. I twice co-sponsored the Bipartisan Background Checks Act (HR 8) to ensure people with criminal records, violent pasts, and mental instability could not buy deadly firearms. I strongly opposed the Concealed Carry Permit Reciprocity Act (HR 38) which would force states like New Jersey to honor concealed carry permits from states with lax gun laws. image from The Plot Against The President The PLOT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT --The daughter of a legendary right-wing Hollywood filmmaker calmly documents an all-American cliffhanger. John Milius made the conservative action-movie favorite Red Dawn. Released in 1984, it’s famous for Harry Dean Stanton’s patriarch, imprisoned during a Soviet takeover of CNBNews graphic file America, shouting to his sons, “Avenge me!” But Milius’s daughter Amanda Milius may have outshone her father with her documentary The Plot Against the President, which details a real-life government coup attempt with less hysteria than Red Dawn — yet it’s scarier. The movie lines up House Intelligence Committee member Devin Nunes, his assistants Kash Patel and Jack Langer, and politicians Richard Grenell, K. T. McFarland, and Lee Zeldin, who opposed the Beltway treachery. Milius features interviews with conservative political commentators from John Solomon, Sebastian Gorka, Edward Luttwak, Tom Fitton, Jack Posobiec, Michael Anton, Raheem Kassam, and Lee Smith (Smith wrote the nonfiction exposé this film is based on). ~The National Review To watch the full length movie (FREE) Click the link below THE PLOT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT

Visitors to Fort Delaware State Park now have a smoother ride along Pea Patch Island to the fort after the tram path was reconstructed in time for the park to kick off its 2022 season. The pathway improvement is the first project completed as part of the park’s largest capital investment by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Division of Parks and Recreation. Once guests arrive to the island via the Delafort ferry, they are transported by a covered tram along the 2,000-foot path and enjoy views of the island’s salt marsh, one of the East Coast’s largest wading bird nesting areas, as they approach the historic fort. Other projects in the capital investment, which began in September 2021, include more durable trails, a revamped and ADA-accessible heronry observation platform to view the island’s various species of herons, egrets and ibis, a screened pavilion and a new maintenance building. Fort Delaware visitors can step back into the 1860s with tours from Civil War-period costumed interpreters Saturdays and Sundays through June 5, Wednesdays through Sundays from June 11 to Sept. 5, and Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 10 to Sept. 25. Memorial Day is here, and in honor of the military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces, many people (and their pets) are gathering to enjoy the outdoors. While we are busy honoring these fallen soldiers, spending time with friends and family, it is important to remember the safety and well-being of our furry friends. PET TIPS “Naturally, pets want to be included in all the festivities of their owners. However, there are potential risks for pets at these outdoor events,” explained Dr. James Barr, Chief Medical Officer at BluePearl Specialty and Emergency Pet Hospital. “In addition to the food dangers that exist, large gatherings, loud music, and fireworks can trigger anxiety in lots of dogs and cats. It is important pet owners know the dangers and are prepared for whatever the weekend festivities bring.” Memorial Day tips to avoid an unexpected trip to the veterinary ER BBQs. Many foods can pose dangers for our furry companions. Dogs in particular are notorious for finding corn cobs, kebab skewers, and other dangerous leftovers like chicken wing bones left on vacant plates or in a garbage bin. Fat drippings and meat oils can also lead to pancreatitis,...

TRENTON, NJ – The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is releasing the following statement after Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew voted against the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act, which would provide emergency funding to address the shortage of infant formula in the United States. Every one of New Jersey’s Democratic members of Congress voted for the bill. “While Democrats are moving quickly to pass legislation that would help families and address the shortage of baby formula, Jeff Van Drew is proving again that he has no interest in helping New Jersey families trying to feed their babies,” said NJDSC Vice Chair Peg Schaffer. “The fact that Van Drew voted against a bill to help curb the nationwide formula shortage tells you everything you need to know about Jefferson Van Drew. The vote was callous, inhumane, and in line with his new home in the ultra-MAGA wing of the Republican party. While Republicans like Van Drew are voting against actual solutions, Democrats are laser-focused on providing the resources to help address the infant formula shortage, and working to lower costs on everything from gas to groceries.” Cumberland County Resident Sean Pignatelli is running for Congress to represent District 02 of New...
