Jefferson Health – New Jersey has been awarded a $574,503 grant from the New Jersey Department of Health to establish an outreach program to provide education, as well as COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters, to a wide array of community members in southern New Jersey. The grant awarded to Jefferson Health – New Jersey will be used to fund and train a team of social workers and community health workers to connect with various segments of the population throughout Camden and Gloucester counties, and provide education and needed vaccinations. Although New Jersey has one of the highest COVID-19 vaccination rates in the nation, there are still communities and subpopulations where rates remain under 70%. In addition, only 53.2% of residents of Gloucester County and 50.4% of residents of Camden County have received a booster shot. The Grant will fund education and vaccinations for more than a dozen communities in Camden and Gloucester counties. People are still using the field across from the Cold Springs School, Gloucester City to dump their trash. Two weeks ago on a Sunday morning, recyclables that the city's trash contractor did not pick up were left laying out for the entire weekend. The Gloucester Township Police Department is proud to participate in our tenth year of the Gloucester Township Police Junior Police Academy. The juveniles will be considered cadets and will be given a uniform to wear every day. The Junior Police Academy consists of physical training, lectures, presentations, hands-on activities, and a field trip. The Junior Police Academy culminates with graduation for each Basic class. 05/26/2022 TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy announced today that, as of Memorial Day Weekend, entry to all New Jersey state parks, forests, and recreation areas will be free of charge this summer. Presented in the FY 2023 budget proposal, the one-year state parks fee holiday is one of several fee waivers and programs designed to advance affordability and opportunity in New Jersey. Park entrance fees will be waived for all visitors, regardless of state residency. Anyone who already purchased a 2022 annual State Park Pass will automatically receive a full refund. Other individual park fees remain in place, including but not limited to camping, interpretive programs, and mobile sport fishing permits. Commissioner of Environmental Protection Shawn M. Visitors to Fort Delaware State Park now have a smoother ride along Pea Patch Island to the fort after the tram path was reconstructed in time for the park to kick off its 2022 season. The pathway improvement is the first project completed as part of the park’s largest capital investment by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Division of Parks and Recreation. Once guests arrive to the island via the Delafort ferry, they are transported by a covered tram along the 2,000-foot path and enjoy views of the island’s salt marsh, one of the East Coast’s largest wading bird nesting areas, as they approach the historic fort. The Skirmish Returns to South Jersey After Two-Year Pause, Bringing Outdoor Family-Fun On Saturday, June 4, 2022, the British will invade Haddonfield and be challenged by Continental troops, just as they did 244 years ago — in June 1778. The day’s events include many other activities such as a Yelling Contest, Colonial Dancing, Pillory Prisoners and Character reenactors.
