Philadelphia Police Officers Involved in Barbara St. Shooting of Suspect Receive Threats, Intelligence Unit

 

Please note, according to the Philadelphia Police Department, the following information is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues.   

 

PHILADELPHIA PA (March 4, 2022-Update)(CNBNewsnet)-- The PPD Criminal Intelligence Unit has detected threats against the officers present during the officer-involved shooting which took place at 17XX Barbara Street on March 1st, 2022. Per policy, due to public safety concerns involving the officers and their families, the names of the discharging officers will not be released until an investigation into these threats is completed.

“Although we are unable to release the names of the discharging officers at this time, I want to assure the public that we are continuing to carry out this investigation in a fair, thorough and expeditious manner,” said Police Commissioner Daniel Outlaw“We understand the importance of transparency and remained committed to providing as many details as possible without compromising the integrity of the investigation. We expect to provide an additional update in the near future.”

PHILADELPHIA-On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at approximately 7:24 PM, Officers #1, #2, #3, and #4, all assigned to the South Task Force, were dressed in plainclothes, operating an unmarked vehicle in the area of 18th and Johnston Streets, in reference to an on-going VUFA investigation.
